Mi Casa Su Casa – Our Home is Your Home
Penola Casa is a privately owned and independent early childhood school in Wavell Heights. We provide a connected and collaborative educational experience for children from 6 weeks old to school entry. Our school welcomes a small community of 70-85 children and their families, inspired by the project of Reggio Emilia within an Australian context. Our brand new centre operates from 7 am – 6 pm, 5 days per week. It is custom-built on the original foundations of the Penola Nursing Home and aims to provide the highest quality learning in natural and built environments connected by community-shared spaces.
Welcome to Penola Casa
At the heart of our centre lies our history as educators, the building’s history and the culture of the families who become part of it. We explain our origins from our sister centre, Molly’s House in Kedron. We also tell you the story behind our Wavell Heights site. Find out about us what makes our centre so special.
What we offer
Our programs give your child the opportunity to develop their distinctive capabilities. We provide a beautiful place which allows children to learn, grow and just be. From our community piazza under the big tree, to our art atelier, community kitchen and outdoor spaces. We aim to foster a sense of connection with the environment of our school, and the people who make it up.
Philosophy and pedagogy
Underpinning our programs is inspiration from the Project of Reggio Emilia, carrying a philosophy of self-directed, experiential learning where children are viewed as competent and capable beings constructing their own learning, connected to the environment they live in. Find out more about our pedagogy and our approach to child-centred learning.
Future families
Penola Casa welcomes prospective families to our waiting list. Find out how your family can register your interest, book in a tour of the centre and more.
“…our image of the child is rich in potential, strong, powerful, competent and, most of all, connected to adults and other children.” Loris Malguzzi
